February: Visiting Teaching

We feel that as we increase the quality of our visiting teaching, we will be more fully engaged in Hastening the Work of Salvation within our Relief Society.  Here are two questions to consider as you read this post and ponder on visiting teaching:
     1. How can I increase the quality of my visiting teaching?
     2. How will this help in Hastening the Work of Salvation?

Inspire (to guide by divine influence)
Here is some inspiring council from the First Presidency, and our current Relief Society General Presidency regarding the covenants we have made, and how we can keep those covenants through visiting teaching.

For more inspiration on visiting teaching, here are two excellent addresses given at a BYU Women's Conference in 2011.  They are both worth your time!

Empower (to give the desired tools to accomplish the task at hand)
These pages are found in " Daughter's in My Kingdom," chapter 7, and are the tools you need to be a successful visiting teacher.

Act (the process of doing something)
Listen to this training from Julie B. Beck, former Relief Society General President, on what you should do this month to evaluate the quality of your visiting teaching.  Write down the three questions she suggests you ask yourself,  answer them honestly, and then set goals in the areas where you may be lacking.  Record your goals and work on them with real intent throughout this year.  Re-evaluate the questions every few months to see where you can improve.
