January: The Worth of Souls

INSPIRE (to guide by divine influence)
What is the Worth of a Soul?

Worth means that something is equivalent in value to the sum or item specified; or the level at which someone or something deserves to be valued or rated.

In 1 Corinthians 6:20 it says, "For ye are bought with a price.."

What is the price?  A human sacrifice.  The sacrifice of the only Begotten Son of the Father.  The suffering and pain in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the crucifixion on the Cross of Calvary.  That is the price that was paid for every human soul who ever has lived, who does live, and who will live on this earth.  The worth of souls is great in the sight of God.  Great enough to offer His only Begotten Son as a sacrifice to save all of us.

We have a great responsibility to help the Lord in His work and glory "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."

EMPOWER (to give the desired tools to accomplish the task at hand)
(note: this video was created for a training meeting for young women leaders.  But it can be applied in our lives as sisters in Relief Society, visiting teachers, wives, mothers, and friends and neighbors)
Our goals in Relief Society this year are to 1. Improve the quality of visiting teaching  2.  Make an effort to invite sisters to better their lives by living the gospel and participating more fully , and 3. Increase attendance at all Relief Society meetings - Sunday and Monthly.  Here are some statistics regarding our Relief Society:
Will you help us accomplish our goals for 2014?  The Bishop has asked each of us to reach out to just one person this year and help them feel God's love in their life (anonymously).  This can be a ward member - active or not active, or a non member friend or neighbor.  Who will you reach out to?  What can you do to help bring others unto Christ?

We are promised "joy" if we will bring but one soul unto Him.  Joy is a feeling of happiness and great pleasure.  Here are some of the blessings promised to us in the Doctrine and Covenants if we will participate in this great work of saving souls:
The Lord ALWAYS gives us so much more in return than what He asks of us.

ACT (the process of doing something)
We hope you will join with us this year in reaching out.  Our invitation to you this month is to decide who you will reach out to.  Consider your friends and neighbors.  Consider the sisters in your visiting teaching circle.  Think of their families. Begin praying for this person daily. Make a plan of what you are going to do to help that person feel God's love.
